Lagos—A 32-year-old man, Chidi Igwe, who allegedly kidnapped a police officer and detained him in his car for hours was, yesterday, arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court sitting at Igbosere.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the defendant unlawfully captured and detained one Sergeant Babashola Afolayan inside his car, number plates EKY 282 BK, and drove to Alagbon Close without the officer’s consent.

Magistrate A. G. Omoyele granted him N20,000 bail with one surety, who must be gainfully-employed and tax compliant, in like sum, and adjourned the case till April 5.
