Election re-run: APC tasks INEC, IGP on overhaul of activities of personnel in Imo

OWERRI—All Progressives Congress, APC, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the Nigeria Police High Command to overhaul their activities in Imo State, ahead of the re-run elections in the state.

Speaking through its Okigwe senatorial candidate, Mr. Benjamin Uwajumogu,  the party also claimed INEC  was dominated by loyalists of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

According to him: “INEC has never conducted any credible election in Imo State. The Commission even imported about 75 people, who are related to a high raking PDP member in the Senate for the conduct of the botched polls.”

Uwajumogu insisted that APC would not stand idle and watch as its opponents worked hard to rig the election.

While claiming that about two persons were reportedly killed ahead of the re-run election, the APC stalwart also lamented that no arrests had been made in connection with the murder of the two citizens.

He urged the Inspector General of Police to overhaul the divisional police commands in the senatorial zone, saying “There will be no re-run election in the state if the INEC and police divisions were not overhauled. It is also interesting to note that all the people ferried into Imo State for the election, were never approved by INEC Chairman.”
