Abubakar who solicited assistance to provide a means of income to the people urged Hon. Monguno to assist the youths in mechanized farming now that insurgency has been relatively brought under control.

He regretted that insurgency has destroyed farming activities in the area.

“We want to state that in the North East; farming is the major occupation of our people before the time of the insurgency. North East Youth are largely subsistence Farmers and contributed to economic growth and development.

“The need for your office to come to our aid with practical measures to re-launch our people back to their means of livelihood cannot be over-emphasised. This we can achieve through the introduction of mechanized farming.” he said.

Abubakar disclosed that the association had in the past rendered humanitarian assistance to displaced persons at Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) centres across the country.

Reacting, Monguno promised to collaborate with the group in finding solution to the plight of those displaced.

The lawmaker explained that the collaboration would be to ameliorate the suffering of the IDPs and other victims of insurgency.
