Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ekiti State, Idowu Faleye, was yesterday arrested by police in connection with the dud cheque issued for the payment of the rent of the state secretariat.
Faleye was reportedly arrested at 5p.m., Wednesday, by a special police squad from the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
However, Faleye, who debunked the allegation, said he was only invited by the police about the controversial cheque and was released, because he was able to authenticate that his signature was not appended to the cheque.
The PDP boss said he had exonerated himself of complicity in the matter, saying the police freed him immediately he wrote his statement.
Faleye said it would be misinformation for anybody to link him with the controversial cheque he never signed, describing the rumour as the handiwork of his political adversaries.
