WARRI—A UNIVERSITY lecturer and Head of Civil/Structural Engineering, University of Benin, Engr. Sylvester Osuji and a former Head of Corporate Civil Engineering, Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, Engr. Chris Ekpekurede, have identified versatility of engineers, incorporation of entrepreneurship skills in engineering curriculum and the involvement of engineers in policy decisions, as key components to engineering entrepreneurship capable of tackling the growing unemployment in Nigeria.

They spoke in Effurun, Delta State, at the Warri branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE,  public lecture series andinduction of 60 new members.

President of Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Ademola Olorunfemi, in his message, stressed the need for engineers to lay more emphasis on entrepreneurship “because there are no jobs anywhere anymore.”

Engr. Olorunfemi, who was represented by a National Executive Committee member, Engr. Denis Dania, tasked members of NSE Warri branch, to fashion out a deliberate arrangement for the mentorship of younger engineers to enable them cope with the present realities.

Earlier in an address, the Warri branch Chairman of NSE, Engr. J. Eghwrudje, explained that the essence of the public lecture series was to encourage engineers to become business oriented.
