Minna—Niger State governor, Alhaji Abubakar Bello has flagged off “Operation Zero Potholes” in Minna the state capital. The programme is expected to cover other major cities as part of the efforts of the new administration to improve urban infrastructure in the state.

The project was flagged off along Mandela Road on the outskirts of Minna.

Speaking on the occasion, Bello described most of the major roads in the urban centres as very appalling, hence they required the immediate attention of the government. He said that the same gesture would be extended to the rural areas.

“Operation Zero Potholes within 100 days is the beginning of an effort to keep our roads free of potholes. We are starting with the urban centres and very soon we shall cover the rural areas too. This is to ensure protection of lives and property,” the governor stated.

Bello further said that the project was essentially aimed at using cold asphalt technology, which is being manufactured within the state to fix the roads.
