A group has threatened to take legal action against the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, over the scheduled local government polls in the state on the basis that the commission has allegedly neglected some sections of the state electoral laws.
The group under the auspices of I See You disclosed that it will challenge the RSIEC at a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt on the ground that the commission neglected the laws made by the state legislators which guided its activities.
Speaking on this development, the legal adviser of the group, Barr Agi Chikwe said the group is dissatisfied with the insistence of RSIEC to conduct the LG polls on the 23rd May, even when several people and political parties have called for a shift of the election from the already announced date.
