ABIA State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji yesterday inaugurated a 15-man transition committee to midwife the May 29th new administration to be headed by Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and charged to be thorough in the discharge of their duty.
Governor Orji told them that they were expected to supervise the transition that would usher in the new government on May 29th.
According to him, the elections were over and the next step for the present government is to ensure that there is smooth transition devoid of rancour and make for even development of the state and its people.
Orji noted his government has kept faith with the people and need to move forward, “especially as this administration has succeeded in the accomplishment of ensuring that there is equity, justice and fair play by having a governor of Ukwa/Ngwa extraction”.
The Governor charged them to receive all handover notes from all government offices which would be handed over to the incoming government, and “ensure that all obstacles that will face the new government are removed and make sure it takes off smoothly”.
The governor also urged them to be thorough in the execution of their assignment, “as every one of you has all it takes to do a good job for the state and its people before the handover date”.
The 15-man transition committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government [SSG] Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa has a woman, Mrs. Chinedu Brown as a member.
Responding on behalf of the committee, the chairman, Prof. Mkpa thanked the Governor for finding them worthy for the task, and assured that all members are competent for the job they have accepted to do.
