Onitsha—The campaign organization of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, candidate for Anambra South senatorial zone in the March 28, 2015, National Assembly election, Chief Ernest Ndukwe, yesterday, raised alarm over alleged doctoring of voters’ register by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, ahead of the hearing of election petitions at the tribunal.

This is coming on the heels of the inauguration of a three-man panel for Anambra Election Petitions Tribunal headed by Justice Joseph Aganaba.

Addressing reporters  shortly after the inauguration of the tribunal panel, the Director-General of the Ernest Ndukwe Campaign Organization, Mr. Chris Nwosu, alleged that there was serious indication that some  INEC  staff might have colluded with some politicians to doctor the voters’ register used in the last general elections to favour their preferred candidates.

“Before the March 28, 2015 National Assembly  poll, we, in Ernest Ndukwe Campaign Organization, had reposed confidence in INEC, believing they were prepared to conduct a free, fair and acceptable poll.

“But what we saw during and after the announcement of the results was the opposite,” he said.

He said following the alleged doctoring of the voters’ register, the petitioner applied for the  certified  true copy, CTC, which INEC refused to give to them till date.

He said: “We hear there is pressure on INEC not to issue the CTC to petitioners. We appeal to the Commission to make the job of the election petition tribunal easy by furnishing them with necessary documents that may be needed at any stage of the hearing of election petitions .”

Nwosu expressed implicit confidence in the Aganaba led election petition tribunal panel, saying his campaign organization  believed the stolen mandate of Ernest Ndukwe would be reclaimed at the tribunal.
