The National President, National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, NCNDE-A, ‘General’ Israel Akpodoro, has said he escaped suspected assassins on his way from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, shortly after Mbiama Junction, on his way from the coalition’s pro-Buhari meeting.

According to his aide, Bernard Ochuko, the Urhobo-born ex-militant leader was rescued by some truck drivers, who ran to the scene on hearing sounds of gunshots.

He stated further that his boss had gone into hiding with his family, while receiving treatment for the injuries he received.

Akpodoro’s travail, according to Bernard, began after a meeting of the ex-militant leaders in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, where he opposed a plan to cause crisis if President Goodluck Jonathan loses the presidential election to General Muhammadu Buhari (retd).
