There has been an explosion in a Nigerian Army facility in Jos, Plateau State.

The blast was said to have occurred at the 3 Armed Division in Rukuba, near Jos, but casualty is uncertain.

Confriming the blast, the Plateau state Police Commissioner, Nasiru Oki, said men and officers of the military facility were evacuating some of their old explosive devices when some exploded.

The Army also confirmed that two soldiers died in the accident while one sustained injuries in the explosion near its 3rd Armoured Division barracks at Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The authorities said the explosion occurred as troops were moving some unuseful ammunition authorised for destruction in a bush.
