Senator Gbenga Ashafa has urged Nigerians to insist on the usage of electronic card reader by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the forthcoming general elections, saying it would checkmate rigging.
Ashafa, who represents Lagos East senatorial district and also Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Land, Housing and Urban Development, also described the plot to remove from office the INEC chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, as an attempt to scuttle the general elections and discredit him.
Ashafa, who spoke at the party’s campaign rally at Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, urged the residents to vote for all APC candidates, assuring that the lawmakers representing the state at the federal level would ensure Lagos State was given special status consideration in the constitution.
He said: “Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has come with another conspiracy to indict Jega and scuttle the electoral process. They are now kicking against the use of e-card readers.”
