My husband and I have a two year-old daughter but he is a rotten husband and father.

He lost his job a year ago but couldn’t be bothered to find another one. He sleeps late whilst I go to work and won’t allow me to see my friends.

He often accuses me of cheating on him and calls my friends whores! Most of the time, he sits in front of the TV drinking.

I used to be in love with him but I’m now thinking seriously of leaving him.

But he thinks that we should have a second child but the idea doesn’t thrill me as he’s not much of a father to the child we currently have.

Dear Joke,

Please think twice before getting pregnant, then follow your instinct and leave. From everything you say, your husband is not suited to fatherhood. He might want another baby but he obviously doesn’t want the responsibility that goes with it. He obviously is not a good role model to any child. If you get pregnant, there will only be trouble ahead.

Ask your friends and family for support so you can make the break – then you can set up life on your own with your daughter and give her the upbringing she deserves.

In the meantime, make sure you don’t get pregnant and don’t trust your partner to take care of contraception.
