The Executive Secretary of Nigerian National Summit Group, Mr Tony Ipriye Uranta, has commended the military on its onslaught that led to the reclaiming of some communities in the North-east region from Boko Haram.

In a statement, Uranta praised the military for its bravery and steadfastness.

The statement said, “We salute the gallantry of our military who have successfully taken the battle to Boko Haram enough to guarantee the security of the 2015 general elections beginning March 28.’’

The NNSG scribe also expressed displeasure over the conduct of INEC on the distribution of permanent voter cards. ‘’We, however, regret that Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) may still be unable to get PVCs to all registered voters who refuse to be disenfranchised from voting in these critically pivotal 2015 general elections,’’ he stated.

‘’It is with a great sense of responsibility, that we add our voices to those of millions of Nigerians in demanding that, rather than disenfranchise even one voter, INEC must (for peace’ sake) arrange to let voting be done by both PVCs and TVCs!’’

Tony Uranta, a human and environmental rights activist and member of defunct Presidential Advisory Committee on National Conference added, ‘’We are aware of the uproar some people may orchestrate against this very tenable option for INEC, but the NNSG is of the conviction that, in order that the gains of our democracy to be consolidated, INEC must do what is in the interest of the greater good.”
