BENIN— EDO State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused Edo State Government of raising tension in the state with what it described as “unguarded, careless and reckless statements unbecoming of a government and a governor.”
The party, through its State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Chris Nehikhare, was reacting to a statement credited to the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Louis Odion, that the state government had allegedly uncovered a plot by PDP to unleash mayhem on the state by way of killings before the general elections of March 28 and April 11.
It stated that the allegation showed that the Adams Oshiomhole’s administration had not departed from its old ways of raising false accusations and alarms, recalling that the governor committed the same act in the months preceding the 2012 governorship election.
The party warned that Edo people were now wiser and used to what it described as “antics of the governor,” adding that the governor deploy such tactics to divert attention from burning issues from which he was likely to be damaged.
