After 120 minutes of exhilarating and a breath-taking penalty shootout, Ivory Coast pipped Ghana 9-8 on penalties to clinch their 2nd Africa Cup of Nations title in Equatorial Guinea last night.
The Ivorians soaked all the pressure mounted by the Black Stars, particularly in the pulsating second half of the extra time to clinch their second African title since 1992. The penalty shootout was not devoid of drama as the Elephants missed their first two kicks before overtaking the Ghanians who missed their third and fourth kicks. It became a ding dong affair until Ivory Coast keeper took the decisive kick which gave them the trophy.
