2 killed, as party thugs clash in Lagos

A clash between supporters of All Progressives Congress, APC, and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos Island, has left two persons dead.

It was gathered that the first victim, identified as Ridwan was hacked to death in his tricycle, while the other, Qudus was shot at a hotel in Oke-Popo area, where he was celebrating his birthday, on Friday.

An eyewitness said the late Ridwan was resting in his tricycle on Thursday night after the day’s work, when 10 suspected party thugs from Partey and Oshodi Street stormed the area and hacked him to death.

The source said they were still mourning Ridwan, when the assailants killed Qudus.

The witness also said late Qudus and his friends were inside the hotel celebrating his birthday when information got to them that the boys, who killed Ridwan, had invaded the street again and started vandalizing vehicles.

According to the source, “I and Qudus hurriedly left the hotel to Oke-Popo Street to check the extent of the damage done on the vehicles.

“We did not know that they had laid ambush for us. Immediately we came out of the hotel gate, the deceased was shot at a close range.”

Qudus was said to have been rushed to a private hospital, where he later died.”

Another eyewitness, Mr. Murtala Ajetunmobi, said it was not up to a minute he left the venue that some boys came and shot Qudus.

Ajetunmobi further said immediately after the two were killed, the matter was reported at Adeniji Adele Police Station, yet nothing tangible had been done to arrest the assailants.
