ENUGU—The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Railwaymen, NUR, Innocent Orji-Kalu, has lamented the inability of the Federal Government to complete the rehabilitation of the eastern rail line, which started from Port-Harcourt to Igede in Benue State, wondering why the contractors handling the project had unable to complete same on schedule.

The multi-billion Naira project was allegedly awarded to a Turkish firm about three years ago with a time frame of one.

According to Orji- Kalu, ‘’It is quite disheartening to note that the contractor was yet to complete the job, having been on it in the last three years.

Orji-Kalu spoke during a visit of the Eastern District of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, headquarters, Enugu, by the board Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
