Umuahia—EX-INTERNATONAL footballer, Mr. John Fashanu has joined in the crusade to fight kidnapping and other crimes in Abia State.
Fashanu, who has also been involved in the rehabilitation of the repentant militants in Rivers State, was engaged by an organisation, Change Abia Organisation, which says that it had put in motion mechanism for stopping the spate of kidnapping in Abia State.
A businessman and politician, Chief Reagan Ufomba, who founded the organisation, said he had set up a negotiating team and a youth empowerment fund to tackle the problem of kidnapping and other crimes among the youths in the state.
Also to work with John Fashanu is Evangelist Katrina McCants. According to Ufomba, membership of the team would include a Bishop, a traditional ruler, a youth leader, a woman leader, representative of law enforcement agencies and journalists. Their main job will be to identify and meaningfully engage potential kidnappers and youths, who have gone astray.
