President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Pinnick Amaju has assured that the brand new Akwa Ibom stadium, Uyo, will not be under utilized, even as he declared the magnificent arena as the new home of the Super Eagles.

Amaju who spoke in Uyo last week after inspecting the stadium alongside his board members stated that the edifice was too sweet to be left fallow without seeing regular soccer action.

“What I have seen here is awesome. This is unarguably the best stadium in the country today and in the whole of West Africa. It is simply going to be the new home of the Super Eagles and beyond hosting South Africa here on November 19, we are going to return to the stadium in February during the FIFA match free window. We are going to play a grade A friendly here,” Amaju stated.

The NFF boss was full of praise for the Akwa Ibom state governor, Godswill Akpabio for constructing the stadium, even as he charged other state governments to emulate the governor who is transforming Akwa Ibom in an uncommon way.

“Honestly, what Akpabio has done deserves commendation. If we have two or three more of this kind of stadium, we can begin to think of bidding for the World Cup,” Amaju said.

The 30,000 capacity stadium is to be commissioned November 6 by President Goodluck Jonathan, ahead of the November 19 Nigeria, South Africa Nations Cup qualifier to be decided there.
