Impeachment: Ebonyi stakeholders pass vote of confidence in lawmaker

By Peter Okutu

ABAKALIKI—Stakeholders of Ohaozara West state constituency of Ebonyi State, yesterday, passed a vote of confidence on the member representing the area in the state House of Assembly, Jerry Obasi.

In a communique issued in Abakaliki, the stakeholders noted that they had considered and analysed his performances and were convinced that the lawmaker had surpassed the expectations of his constituency.

The statement further condemned in its totality  alleged attempt on the life of the lawmaker by some hoodlums, following the crisis in the state House of Assembly.
It would be recalled that on July 21, the Speaker, Chukwuma Nwazunku, was impeached by 18 lawmakers, a matter which Governor Martin Elechi had since laid to resting by insisting that the Speaker was never impeached.

The stakeholders said:  “Since the creation of Ohaozara West constituency, no honourable member has ever impacted positively into the lives of the people like the incumbent representative, Jerry Obasi.”
