UMUAHIA — AN Umuahia Chief Magistrate’s Court has issued a bench warrant against Mr. Ebere Wabara, an editor with The SUN newspapers.
The police said that Wabara was told to report to the police commissioner, yesterday, Monday, March 31, 2014, but failed to do so.
On account of his inability to report to the police, the state police command approached the court for a bench warrant to re-arrest Wabara.
Meanwhile, Wabara has been charged to court for sedition. Wabara, who was arrested in Lagos by policemen from Abia State Command, was granted bail, Saturday, but was absent in court, yesterday, where he was confronted with 10-count charge bordering on sedition, defamation of character and intention to cause trouble in the state.
According to counsel to Abia State government, Chief Chukwuyere Nwabuko, Wabara was charged for defamation of character and sedition against the state government.
Nwabuko also said that Wabara was equally charged for false publication against the Governor, Chief Theodore Orji, his son, Mr. Chinedum Orji, and the entire family of the governor in The Sun newspaper, including the Internet.
