Lagos – The Secretary of the Lagos State Junior League (J-League), Taofiq Aromire, on Friday said that the league management would engage the services of foreign technical advisers for the grassroots competition.

Aromire said that the sustainability and improvement of the four-year-old competition necessitated the move.

According to him, the league is made up of young footballers who are prone to deviant behaviour and that there is need to engage experts with the ability to manage teenagers.

“We are looking forward to continuing to produce players like Mustapha Abdulahi and Olajide Idowu, who have made their marks in the national team.

“There is need for the league to maintain its present glowing status, for eyes are on us.

“We cannot pretend all is well technically, hence, the need to liaise with better hands,” Aromire said.

According to the secretary, the local coaches have done well in grooming the boys to an appreciable position.

“Now that our products are attracting international scouts, there is the need to also reposition the competition, to suit global standard,” he noted.

He said that the competition would continue to grow in leap and bounds as long as football talents are being sought.

Aromire said that the outstanding performances of J-League players – Taiwo Awoniyi, Jide Idowu and Dele Alampasu in the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup- had brought the league to limelight. (NAN)
