ABUJA—A former member of the Senate, Senator Grace Bent, has called for the emergence of a female vice president in the country.

This came on a day a group, Care For Youth Future Initiative, CAFYION, called on the First Lady, Dame Patient Jonathan, to include as part of her initiatives an increase from 35 to 50 percent for women representation in elective and appointive position.
Bent, who made the call while speaking with newsmen, in Abuja, insisted that this was the best time for female folk to be considered for the slot by political parties.

She said it was high time the female folks were allowed to “drive together” with their male counterpart the affairs of the country, adding that the female had a lot to contribute to re-direct the affairs of the country.
According to her, men have dominated the country since independence, hence women should be allowed to take a shot at the vice presidency.

“Women should be allowed to take the front seat in this country, we have a lot to contribute, we want to be part of decision making and not only serving as minister and advisers,” she said.
Bent maintained that women were no longer comfortable at taking the back seat, as the entire problems facing the country could be addressed with the contribution of women, if giving the opportunity to be the number two citizen.
She said the emergence of female vice president would go a long way in addressing issues bothering on insecurity, describing women as instrument of change.
