WARRI — CHAIRMAN, Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, DBIR, Mr. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, has said the state government would sack revenue consultants performing below expectations in the march to sustain the Delta Beyond Oil initiative.
He disclosed this at a meeting with heads of government ministries, departments and agencies, MDAs, in Effurun.
He said that information available to the Board indicates that some of the consultants were under-performing, adding that the purpose of engaging them was to improve revenue collection in the state and that if the aim was defeated, “there would be no need keeping such a consultant.”
He said: “The intention of appointing a consultant is to improve our revenue status and if that environment is not improved, there is no need to keep them.
“The intention of government in appointing the consultant is to improve the collection of DBIR, so we have a stake in it.”
