THE Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has berated the Osun State PDP chairman, Gani Olaoluwa, for his recent call for the sack of the party’s acting national secretary, Dr. Remi Akitoye.

Dr. Remi Akitoye, who acts as the party’s scribe at the national level, hails from Lagos State.

Recall that the Chairman of the Osun State chapter of the PDP, Gani Olaoluwa, called for the removal of Mr. Akitoye, stating that his retention is a breach of a court order which could lead to contempt proceedings against him and the party.

The Lagos State PDP, in a statement by its publicity secretary, Mr Taofik Gani also faulted the assertion that another acting secretary was selected at a purported South west congress saying such claim is “false and unacceptable.”
The party said “this indeed is unbecoming of a supposed neutral umpire who should eschew parochialism and allow good sense of reasoning to prevail.

“Similarly is the erroneous and uninformed assertion that section 13 (5) of the PDP Constitution avails his unilateral call for sake of educating this chairman, we are inclined to inform him that Section 13.5 he has relied on actually presupposes that there must be an elected Substantive National Secretary in office.”

This is not the case here as the peculiarity and present circumstance is actually regulated by Article 14, Section 14.5 of the PDP Constitution.”

While citing section 14 (5) of the PDP constitution, the party argued that “in the submission of Lagos PDP, the provision of section 14 (5) is unequivocal that a consequential substitute can only come from the zone and not reduced to the state.”
