Yenagoa—The leadership of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Bayelsa State, yesterday, said it had alerted law enforcement agencies over the activities of the loyalists of the former governor, Chief Timipre Sylva, on the alleged formation of a faction of the party in the state.

The decision of the leadership of state PDP to notify the security agencies, it was learnt, might not be unconnected with the insistence of Sylva’s loyalists to unveil a parallel secretariat of the Kawu Baraje-led PDP in the state capital next week.

State Deputy Chairman of PDP, Chief Nyananyo Tubo-Miela, said that the petition before the police was submitted to check Sylva loyalists.

Tubo-Miela, who led the members of the State Working Committee, SEC and Chairmen of the party from the local government areas in the state, in a solidarity meeting at the state PDP secretariat, said, “The party has set in motion disciplinary machinery to deal with those who are genuine members of the party that have allowed themselves to be used by dissident elements.
