Felix Obuah cannot invite Gov Amaechi to a meeting – Commissioner

By JIMITOTA ONOYUME

PORT HARCOURT — RIVERS State Government has dismissed as untrue, claims by the factional chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Mr. Felix Obuah that he had invited Governor Chibuike Amaechi and the Minister of State for Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike to a peace meeting this week.

Obua had, weekend, told a gathering of Grass Democratic Initiative in Obia Akpor Local Government Area of the state that he had slated a peace meeting between the governor and the minister in his country home.

Reacting, state Commissioner for Information, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, said it was beyond the brief of Obuah as party chairman to invite the governor, who is the leader of the party to a meeting, adding that the highest Obuah could do was to seek audience with the governor as a party man.

“The matter of Rivers State PDP Chairman  is in court. Besides, Obuah cannot invite the governor, who is the leader of the party to meeting.  That is beyond his brief. He may seek audience as a partyman, however,” she told Vanguard.
