Sokoto – Unknown gunmen Monday night killed a member of Sokoto State House of Assembly and took away his official vehicle.

The victim, Alhaji Murtala Attahiru Wauru represented Gada West constituency and Chairman, Finance and Appropriation Committee of the State House of Assembly.

Confirming the incident, the State Commissioner of Police, Shuaibu Lawal Gambo said the late Wauru was trailed by hoodlums who were riding on Kasea motorcycle.

“Hoodlums riding on Kasea motorcycle trailed the member to a dark corner at Mabera area of Sokoto metropolis at about 8.45pm, shot him and made away with his official Honda Accord. From our examination of the scene, the victim’s clothes looked ruffled, which signifies that he struggled with the assailants. We recovered four empty shells believed to be used by AK47.”

The CP added that the command had alerted Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano and Kaduna Commands with a view to identifying the vehicle and apprehending the hoodlums.
