The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke has announced that Nigeria would be the toast of the jewellery world this month in Hollywood, California as mega-movie stars, world  jewellery buying  and selling top guns throng   the  launch its Gemstones .

The Minister said that this was made possible after several meeting with Nigerian born, Hollywood based, world renowned jeweller Chris Aire.

The Minister made this announcement while fielding questions during a Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) programme in Abuja last week.

“The Nigerian International Jewellery Designer from Edo State, Chris Aire, but who has lived in Hollywood for many years, and who’s clients  include the most elite  Hollywood actors and actresses, has agreed after many meetings to share a line of jewellery that utilised purely Nigerian gemstones”, she said

“This in collaboration with some  NGOs and other financial institutions, and also with  International Couture  Gemstone Association”, she said enthusiastically.

“That means were linking the world this time”, she said.

According to the Minister the  International Gemstones Marketers Association and Buyers which membership spans the world, are also in the collaboration.

“The launch would be done in Hollywood”, she said, “and it would be  in front of the World Stars”, she said.

“The idea is  to capture attention about the pristine  gemstones we have in Nigeria  and to create ripples around the world”, she said.
“It is indeed intended to draw the world to the fantastic quality and array of Nigerian gemstones”, she went on.

“It would attract the interest of gemstones designers, marketer and buyers to the quality and diversity of the gemstones that Nigeria has”, she told viewers.

“Already some of the topmost gemstone designers are in talks with me, signifying their interest”, she said,

“But, really, we are going to be the main focus of the world in terms of the gemstones that we have in Nigeria”, she said.

According to her, most of the designs done by Aire on Nigerian gemstones would be cut in Nigerian gold

“And as you are aware, Nigerian gold is among the best of gold anywhere in the world”, she said.

“We expect the launch to be spectacular, with spectacular result”, she said
