ABUJA— The National Publicity Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, has debunked reports linking him to the demolition of part of the Abuja home of Second Republic Senate President, Dr. Joseph Wayas.

Part of Wayas’ house located in Asokoro District of Abuja was last Monday demolished by officials of the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, one of who was said to have cited encroachment into an adjourning plot allegedly owned by Metuh as reason.
But dismissing the allegation, Special Assistant to Metuh, Mr. Richard Ihediwa, said the PDP chieftain was not the owner of the said adjourning plot and could not have had any hand in the demolition.

Ihediwa said Metuh acquired the land a few years ago but was forced to dispose of it last year at a give-away price after several meetings with Wayas over his encroachment into half of the property yielded no results.

He said Chief Wayas is fully aware that the land has since been sold to another person and in fact has been transacting with the new owner.

He said: “We read in the papers that part of the house belonging to Second Republic Senate President, Chief Joseph Wayas was demolished by officials of the FCDA. The report said that the demolition was because the property encroached into an adjourning land said to be owned by Chief Olisa Metuh.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the plot of land in question does not belong to Chief Olisa Metuh. He acquired the plot a few years ago but noticed that there was an encroachment into half of the land by Chief Joseph Wayas.

“After several meetings with Chief Wayas, which yielded no result, Chief Olisa Metuh was forced to sell the land at a little or no value. Chief Joseph Wayas is fully aware that the land has since been sold to another person. In fact, he has been transacting with the new owners of the land.

“So Chief Olisa Metuh has no interest in the land and is in no way involved in the demolition.”
