Adamawa Crisis: Nyako storms PDP House, begs Tukur

By Henry Umoru
FORTY-eight hours after the National leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP sacked the Adamawa State Executive Committee and inaugurated a Caretaker Committee, the embattled governor, Admiral Murtala Nyako rtd, has begged the National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur to forgive him over the unfolding political logjam in the state.

Nyako who on Thursday stormed the Legacy House, PDP Presidential Campaign Office, Maitama, Abuja, met with the National Chairman and other members of the National Working Committee, NWC.

Answering questions from Journalists shortly after his meeting with the leadership of the party, Adamawa State governor who noted that there was nothing wrong if he begs Bamanga Tukur to forgive him if he erred, said, ‘’There is nothing wrong in begging, PDP is a very large family, it has elder brothers and younger brothers. In our own situation, we have the National Headquarters, we have state chapter of the party, we have local government chapter of the party, we have the ward, we have the unit leadership so if there is anything we observe as shortcomings of one or the other, obviously,  we should express regrets that this has happened and find ways to resolve our problems. Brothers are brought together where  the elder brother  sits at the head of the chair and say this is what has happened and we tell the elder brother our own version of the story.

Nyako however admitted that the political crisis in Adamawa state got to this level because he had been very busy tackling with state matters ranging from election, Boko Haram and flooding, adding, ‘’We are here with the state chapter which I am privileged to be the leader, don’t forget, I am not the chairman, I am the leader of the party in the state so when you are in a place what has happened, it has been a very busy time in Adamawa state, we had election this year, we had the menace of Boko Haram, we had flooding.

‘’We have been very busy and sometimes when you are as busy as we are, omission is inevitable,so whatever omission, shortcomings we have observed about our conduct, we express our regrets.”

When asked if he was comfortable with the Caretaker Committee put in place by the national Leadership to handle the state PDP, the governor simply said, ‘’We are being reconciled, we have reconciled.
