Anambra oil controversy: Ohaneze cautions against violence

By NKIRUKA  NNOROM

The Ohaneze Media Forum has called for caution in the on-going debate over the ownership of the oil well recently discovered in Anambra State, to avert any form of violence among the communities interlocked in the dispute.

The Forum in a communiqué issued at the end of a one day meeting, signed by the National President, Mr. Peter Anosike, said that great care needs to be taken to forestall any violence as evil-minded politicians may capitalize on this to perpetrate their evil wishes under this guise.

According to the Forum, “It is a sad development that something like oil that should be a source of joy for these communities that have co-existed peacefully for centuries could deteriorate to this war of words being championed by some politicians with evil motives. Some evil-minded politicians have been lending their voices to unnecessarily heat up the polity in order to perpetrate violence.
