It was a time of thanksgiving, prayer and spiritual reawakening for Christians from all walks of life who recently joined the Primate of the Church of the Lord (Aladura), His Eminence, the Most Rev. Rufus Okikiola Olubiyi Ositelu, to appreciate the goodness of God in their lives and pray earnestly for the peace of the country.

Despite the unfriendly change of weather and the fact that this year’s Tabieorar grand finale, usually an all night service, fell on a Wednesday, the worshippers trooped out in their thousands for the service as they enthusiastically rendered praises, adoration and danced heartily to the Lord who made it possible for them to witness yet another celebration.

Leading both old and young, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi was at his very best as he ministered re-enacted the old flame while entertaining the congregation with so-me of his old melodious songs.

The congregation included traditional rulers who openly expressed surprise that Obey who turned 70 recently could still perform with so much energy and agility. When the ace juju musician took the microphone and started dishing out songs like; Jesus seun O seun, Aimasiko lo n damu eda, Edumare soro mi dayo amongst others the entire Tabieorat Ground erupted in ecstacy as they heartily sang along.

The church’s mass choir also were not left out as they rendered melodious songs and choruses, which made participants to dance all through the night at the well lit sprawling Tabieorar Ground while some members, majority of whom were in white garments, had an opportunity to testify to the goodness of the Lord.

The Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, in his speech, appealed to the congregation to pray for the peace of Nigeria and the progress of Ogun State, adding that it is only prayer that can solve the country’s security challenges and other social problems.

Speaking through the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Segun Odubela, the governor urged the people of Ogun State to support the present administration, saying that better days lie ahead of the state.

Speaking with Vanguard, one of the particpants who is not a member of the church, Oluronke Alabi, an accountant, said August 22, is a yearly routine which ushers in renewed hope not only for the members but for the nation as a whole.

She testified that God had been faithful to her anytime she brought a prayer request to the mount.

In his sermon, Primate Ositelu, defined testimony as a declaration made by witnesses concerning what God is doing in their lives, explaining that a child of God will have testimony galore after persecution because Christ has overcome the world.

The man of God urged all Christians to bear fruits that will glorify God, adding that a lot of people will come to the knowledge of Christ through their Godly character.

He also used the occasion to advise President Goodluck Jonathan to allow fear of God to guide his actions.
