Datamellon, an AI, cloud and data consulting company and an AWS Advanced Consulting Partner, has announced that its generative AI-powered fraud detection platform, MellyGuard, is now available on AWS Marketplace.
The announcement comes as Nigerian financial institutions begin implementing the Central Bank of Nigeria’s March 2026 directive on Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) and Counter-Proliferation Financing (CPF). Following the conclusion of the roadmap submission deadline, Deposit Money Banks have entered an 18-month implementation period, while fintechs, payment service providers, mobile money operators and other regulated institutions continue towards their compliance deadlines.
Datamellon said MellyGuard is already deployed at a leading Nigerian commercial bank and combines AI-powered fraud detection, automated AML transaction monitoring, sanctions and politically exposed persons (PEP) screening, customer risk scoring, AI-assisted investigations, enterprise case management and regulatory reporting in a single platform.
According to the company, the platform uses generative AI to analyse customer behaviour across multiple channels, enabling investigators to understand why suspicious transactions are flagged while supporting fraud detection, Know Your Customer (KYC) processes, AML monitoring and regulatory reporting under human oversight.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Datamellon, Adewale Adedeji, said the CBN directive marks a significant shift for Nigeria’s financial services industry.
“The roadmap submission deadline was never the destination—it marked the beginning of implementation. Financial institutions now have an opportunity to build capabilities that strengthen compliance, reduce fraud and reinforce customer trust. We developed MellyGuard to help institutions make that transition with confidence,” he said.
The company said the platform integrates with existing core banking systems through REST APIs and Kafka event streams and can be deployed across Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Huawei Cloud, private cloud and on-premises environments without requiring banks to replace their existing infrastructure.
Datamellon said the cloud-agnostic platform is designed to help financial institutions modernise financial crime investigations while meeting regulatory, security, governance and data residency requirements.
