Barrister Suleiman Abubakar, Chairman of the Electoral Committee for the 2025 National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Congress in Bayelsa State, has affirmed that Ambassador Collins Idahosa was duly elected Governor of the council’s Europe Chapter.

In a notice issued following the congress, Abubakar said the electoral committee successfully conducted and concluded the election that produced Idahosa as Governor of the NYCN Europe Chapter.

According to him, the outcome of the election remains valid and any action concerning the office should be carried out in line with the provisions of the council’s constitution and established due process.

“I served as Chairman of the Electoral Committee that conducted and concluded the said election. By virtue of the foregoing, no person or group should remove him from this platform without due process,” Abubakar stated.

Reacting to the notice, Ambassador Idahosa welcomed the electoral committee’s affirmation, describing it as a confirmation of the outcome of the Bayelsa Congress.

He said the clarification would help strengthen confidence in the leadership of the Europe Chapter and promote stability within the organisation.

Idahosa also called on the chapter’s legal team to examine issues surrounding the use of the NYCN Europe identity and, where necessary, take appropriate steps in accordance with applicable European Union laws and the council’s constitution.

According to him, the objective is to protect the integrity of the organisation and ensure that all activities relating to the chapter are conducted within the framework of the law.

He reiterated the Europe Chapter’s commitment to due process, constitutional order and the peaceful resolution of disagreements, urging members to remain united and focused on advancing the objectives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Edo State Chapter, has congratulated Ambassador Collins Osazee Idahosa on his emergence as Governor of the NYCN Europe Chapter, describing his re-election as a testament to his leadership capacity and commitment to Nigerian youths in the diaspora.

In a statement signed by the Publicity Department on behalf of the executives of the Edo State Chapter, the council said Idahosa’s renewed mandate reflected the confidence reposed in him following his contributions to uniting and strengthening the NYCN Europe Chapter.

“Your re-election is a demonstration of your proven leadership capacity and a recognition of the outstanding contributions you have made in uniting and strengthening the diaspora chapters. Your track record of excellence, innovation and commitment to the Nigerian youth in Europe remains an inspiration to us here at home,” the statement read.

The Edo chapter expressed confidence that Idahosa’s new tenure would foster stronger collaboration between the diaspora and the home front, creating greater opportunities for youth development, empowerment and national progress.

“As a proud ambassador of Edo, we are confident that your renewed mandate will usher in greater collaboration between the diaspora and the home front, stimulating opportunities, development and empowerment for Nigerian youths globally.

“Once again, congratulations on this well-deserved victory. We assure you of our continuous support and solidarity as you chart new frontiers for youth development and representation,” the statement added.
