The Genius Chess TV Quiz Show, an educational entertainment platform promoting chess and critical thinking among children, has announced a nationwide expansion following the success of its earlier editions across Nigeria.

Owned by The Genius Chess TV Quiz Show Services and aired on YouTube via Tender Chess TV, the programme combines learning and competition to build problem-solving, strategic reasoning, and academic skills in young participants.

The competition challenges pupils to solve chess puzzles on digital tablets within timed limits, blending technology, education and entertainment in a format organisers say is transforming interest in the game across schools and homes.

The show runs in two stages: the General CBT Chess Test and the Live Show, which features an Elimination Round and the 90-Second Spotlight Round.

Speaking during an interview, founder of Genius Chess TV Quiz Show, Onyedinma Ikechukwu, popularly known as Mr. Tender Chess, said the programme began in 2023 and has since completed four episodes across two seasons.
The show is now in Season 3, with a national rollout covering Port Harcourt, Lagos and Abuja.

“The impact has been tremendous. We have witnessed how the programme has transformed the lives of participants. Chess is now being taken more seriously in schools and homes, with increasing numbers of pupils from different schools expressing interest in becoming part of the quiz show,” he said.

Mr. Tender Chess said the initiative was driven by a desire to promote chess education and raise future leaders equipped with critical life skills.

“Our passion stems from the burning desire to encourage chess learning among pupils in schools, thereby raising chess geniuses who will positively impact their communities and the world through the skills they develop from the game.

“We envision The Genius Chess TV Quiz Show becoming Africa’s leading educational entertainment platform. With the growing popularity of chess across the globe, we believe this vision is not only possible but inevitable,” he added.

The Season 3 Port Harcourt Edition Grand Finale held on June 12, 2026. The competition now moves to Lagos from June 18–22, and to Abuja on June 29–30.

Organisers urged interested participants, schools, parents and chess enthusiasts to follow the programme’s official social media platforms for registration details and updates.

Through its mix of education, technology, competition and entertainment, the Genius Chess TV Quiz Show said it is positioning itself as a platform for discovering and nurturing Nigeria’s next generation of chess talent, with an eye on continental reach.
