Blue Lagos Initiatives has entered into a strategic partnership with the Lagos State Health Management Agency, LASHMA to expand access to healthcare in underserved areas.
The collaboration will introduce telemedicine services to 152 riverine and coastal communities across Lagos State, marking a significant step toward inclusive healthcare delivery.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Blue Lagos, led by its Convener Mr. Saheed Adesanya, and LASHMA’s management team headed by Permanent Secretary Dr. Emmanuella Zamba. Discussions centered on leveraging technology to overcome barriers to healthcare access and ensuring that residents in hard-to-reach areas benefit from essential medical services.
Under the partnership, telemedicine platforms will be deployed to enable residents to consult healthcare professionals remotely. Services will include medical advice, referrals, follow-up care, and preventive health guidance. This initiative is expected to reduce the challenges posed by distance and transportation, while improving healthcare outcomes for thousands of people living in coastal and riverine settlements.
Speaking on the importance of the collaboration, Adesanya described healthcare as a fundamental right and should be accessible to all citizens. He noted that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to bridging healthcare gaps through technology-driven solutions, ensuring that no community is left behind in the pursuit of quality medical care.
Also, Zamba reaffirmed LASHMA’s dedication to advancing universal health coverage in Lagos State. She highlighted the role of strategic partnerships in reaching vulnerable populations and stressed the importance of integrating telemedicine into the state’s broader healthcare framework to achieve sustainable impact.
The Telemedicine Scheme is expected to promote preventive healthcare, reduce delays in medical consultation, and enhance access to professional support. By connecting residents to qualified practitioners, the program aims to strengthen community health systems and contribute to the overall wellbeing of Lagosians in remote areas.
Both organizations agreed to continue working on implementation strategies, community sensitization, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the success of the initiative. The partnership aligns with the Lagos State Government’s vision of inclusive development and improved quality of life for all residents, regardless of geographical location.
