The Accord Party candidate for Mushin II Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, Mr. Ifedayo Dosumu, has called for people-centred leadership and improved living conditions for residents of Mushin, stressing that governance should prioritise the welfare, aspirations and development of the people.

Dosumu, popularly known as “Ogo Mushin,” made the call in a statement issued on Monday, where he described leadership as a responsibility entrusted by the people rather than a mere political position.
According to him, effective leadership requires service, accountability and responsiveness to citizens’ needs, especially at a time when many Nigerians are grappling with economic hardship and social challenges.

Quoting leadership expert Max DePree, Dosumu said leadership is rooted in service and trust, noting that public office holders must never lose sight of their obligation to the people.

He described Mushin as one of Lagos State’s most vibrant communities with enormous human and economic potential but lamented that residents had yet to experience meaningful improvements despite repeated promises by political leaders.

The Accord candidate expressed concern over rising food prices, transportation costs, unreliable electricity supply and growing unemployment, which he said continue to place enormous pressure on families and businesses.

He also highlighted the challenges facing small and medium-scale enterprises, including inflation and multiple taxation, which he said threaten business survival and job creation.

Dosumu further stressed the importance of accountability, saying democracy thrives when citizens can question leaders without fear of intimidation.

He urged leaders at all levels to focus on delivering tangible benefits, insisting that democracy should be measured by improvements in security, justice, opportunity and living standards.

“Mushin possesses significant potential and needs leadership that demonstrates genuine compassion, competence and accountability,” he said. “Until leadership begins to prioritise people over politics, many expectations of the people will remain unmet.”
