The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osogbo has called for clarification and a thorough review of reports relating to an alleged security incident mentioned by the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji.

The development follows an earlier incident in which the chairman of the Accord Party in Osogbo Local Government, Asimiyu Ajibola, was reportedly shot by unidentified persons on June 3 and is currently receiving medical attention.

At an endorsement programme organised by spare parts dealers in Osogbo on Saturday, the Ataoja stated that some armed individuals had entered his palace and that an incident involving gunfire occurred within the premises. In a video of the event circulating on social media, the monarch said details of the matter were documented at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital.

Governor Ademola Adeleke subsequently called for an investigation into the matter by security agencies.

Reacting, APC leaders in Osogbo, represented by former Deputy Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Akintunde Adegboye, said the circumstances surrounding the reported incidents should be properly examined by relevant authorities.

The party urged security agencies to establish the facts of the matter and ensure a transparent review of all related claims.

It added that further clarification would help address public concerns and provide a clearer understanding of the situation.

The APC also called for restraint in public commentary on the matter pending official investigation and findings from security agencies.

The party reiterated its commitment to peace and due process, and expressed confidence that security agencies would handle the matter appropriately.

As of the time of filing this report, no official findings had been released by relevant security agencies regarding the reported incidents.
