As Nigerians marked Democracy Day, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Lucky Uduikhue, has commended Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for what he described as significant strides in infrastructure development and governance across the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Uduikhue said the governor’s policies and projects have contributed to the state’s development and strengthened democratic governance.
He noted that this year’s Democracy Day celebration comes amid security challenges facing parts of the country, but said leaders at various levels of government must continue working towards improving the welfare and safety of citizens.
According to him, Governor Okpebholo has demonstrated commitment to infrastructure renewal, security enhancement and environmental sustainability.
“Governor Okpebholo has shown dedication to the development of Edo State through projects and policies aimed at improving the lives of the people. His efforts in infrastructure and governance are worthy of commendation,” Uduikhue said.
He cited the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of roads across the state, including the flyover project at Ramat Park and other road infrastructure initiatives, as examples of the administration’s development agenda.
“The ongoing road projects and other infrastructure interventions reflect the government’s commitment to extending development to different parts of the state and ensuring that communities benefit from the dividends of democracy,” he stated.
Uduikhue also commended the administration’s investment in drainage infrastructure, noting that such projects could help address flooding and environmental concerns in several communities.
On governance, he praised what he described as the cordial relationship among the executive, legislative and judicial arms of government in the state.
“A stable and cooperative relationship among the arms of government is essential for effective governance and sustainable development,” he said.
The APC chieftain further highlighted development efforts in Udomi community, describing them as part of a broader strategy to improve rural infrastructure and promote balanced development across the state.
While applauding the governor’s achievements, Uduikhue appealed for the inclusion of the Emunekhua Community Road in Ward 5, Esan South East Local Government Area, in the state’s infrastructure plans.
According to him, the road plays an important role in connecting communities and supporting economic activities in the area.
“The Emunekhua Community Road is of strategic importance to residents and businesses. Its development would improve transportation, enhance economic activities and strengthen connectivity with neighbouring communities and states,” he said.
He expressed optimism that the state government would continue to prioritize projects that improve the quality of life of residents.
“As we celebrate Democracy Day, we pray for continued wisdom and strength for Governor Okpebholo as he works to advance policies and projects that promote development and good governance in Edo State,” Uduikhue added.
