UNN initiated settlement talks, not Nnaji — Aide counters reports

Dr Robert Ngwu, has countered reports making the rounds that his boss, Chief Uche Geoffrey, and other respondents initiated the move for an out-of-court settlement in an ongoing legal dispute with University of Nigeria Nsukka.

Reacting on Monday, Ngwu said that UNN sought out of court settlement as against reports saying otherwise.

He noted that the proceedings showed that UNN and others, admitted and sought for out of court settlement.

Ngwu clarified that Nnaji’s lawyer only acknowledged the discussions and requested an adjournment to allow parties consider the proposal.

“The records are clear. The respondents initiated the process; the applicant merely responded,” Ngwu said.

The case was adjourned to July 8, 2026.

Nnaji is seeking a court order compelling UNN to release his academic records, in a case that has attracted public interest.
