The third batch of beneficiaries under the Distinguished Senator Mohammed Sani Musa International Scholarship Programme departed Nigeria yesterday for the Russian Federation, marking another milestone in the sustained effort to build globally competitive human capital from Niger State.
The students, selected strictly on merit, are to pursue specialised academic programmes in critical sectors including Aircraft Manufacturing, Oil and Gas Engineering, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Information Security, Construction, and Nursing at the MISIS University National University of Science and Technology in Moscow.
Their departure follows earlier batches under the initiative, which saw 100 beneficiaries deployed to India for specialised studies and 50 to China for medical training, underscoring the expanding scope and impact of the scholarship scheme.
At the point of departure, Hajia Saadatu Sani Musa, wife of the sponsor of the programme, was on ground to bid the students farewell, offering a blend of counsel, encouragement and maternal reassurance.
She described the opportunity as both a privilege and a responsibility, urging the beneficiaries to distinguish themselves through discipline, academic excellence and exemplary conduct.
“This is not just a journey of education, but a defining moment in your lives. You have been chosen based on merit, and that alone places a responsibility on you to excel. As you depart for the Russian Federation, remember that you are ambassadors of your families, your state and your country,” she said.
She further charged the students to uphold the values of integrity and respect, while maximising the exposure and knowledge available to them in their respective fields of study.
“We are confident in your abilities and proud of your achievements so far. We look forward to your return as highly skilled professionals who will contribute meaningfully to the development of our society,” she added.
All travel documentation, including study visas, had been secured prior to departure, ensuring a seamless transition for the beneficiaries.
The scholarship programme, widely regarded as one of the most impactful private-sector-driven educational interventions in Niger State, continues to reflect a strategic commitment to youth empowerment and long-term socio-economic development through access to world-class education.
