ABUJA – THE Managing Consultant and Chief Executive of Efiko Management Consulting, Omagbitse Barrow, and other management experts have urged organisations in both private and public sectors to focus on managing performance.

Barrow made the call during the February session of the Champions of Performance webinar series convened by Efiko Management Consulting.

He tasked participants on looking inwards to prioritize performance approach to boost productivity and meeting set goals and strategies amid challenges while emphasizing why many organizations fail to manage performance as a system.

Meanwhile, the session, which forms part of Efiko’s broader Champions of Performance programme, had in attendance professionals, cutting across human resources, strategy, and organizational development to explore practical ways of improving performance outcomes within organizations.

Participants also engaged actively throughout the session, sharing experiences from their respective organizations as the session explored how fragmented interventions—such as standalone training or isolated process improvements—often fail to deliver sustained results when they are not aligned with broader organizational realities.

However, the discussions focused on the difficulty of sustaining improvements after initial interventions, as participants noted that while organizations invest in training and strategy development, the absence of alignment across departments often limits impact.

He said: “Organizations often try to solve problems in isolation.

“But performance is not driven by one factor. It is the result of how leadership, systems, processes, culture, and people interact.

“What organizations need is not just activity, but alignment. When the different parts of the organization are not working toward the same outcomes in a coordinated way, performance will always fall short of expectations.”

Meanwhile, the participants who deeply reflected also indicated strong interest to practical apply ideas received at the discussion particularly around diagnosing performance gaps and designing more integrated interventions as they described the session as a useful, and reappraised organizational challenges, while others said the sessions noted provided deep clarity on why previous initiatives had not delivered expected results.

According to the organisers, Efiko Management Consulting, the Champions of Performance programme is designed as a platform to bring together professionals interested in driving measurable performance improvements, equipping them with practical frameworks, tools, and insights.

Efiko Management Consulting said the webinar series holds on the third Saturday of every month, offering it free charge as part of the firm’s commitment to advancing performance-focused thinking across organizations.

The next session, scheduled for March, will focus on the role of line managers in driving strategic results, with an emphasis on how managers translate organizational strategy into day-to-day execution.
