ENUGU – Governorship aspirant on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform in Enugu State, Engr. Dr. Chris Okonkwo, has announced plans to lead a comprehensive membership drive across the South-East, describing it as key to advancing Peter Obi’s presidential ambition.

Okonkwo spoke at a strategic meeting with stakeholders in Enugu, stressing that securing Obi as ADC’s presidential candidate requires strong grassroots participation and active involvement in party processes.

“If we must elect Peter Obi as the presidential candidate of the ADC, then we must first secure our place within the system that produces that candidate. Membership is not symbolic; it is decisive,” he said.

He outlined a region-wide mobilisation campaign aimed at expanding the party’s membership base, particularly in Enugu State, and called on residents to embrace what he described as a “collective political responsibility” by registering new members in their communities.

“This is the time for action. We will deploy structure and systems to ensure that this membership drive records tangible results,” Okonkwo stated.

Highlighting Nigeria’s need for leadership rooted in competence and economic expertise, he described Obi’s candidacy as a national project, not just a regional one, and urged supporters to convert online enthusiasm into real-world engagement.

“This movement must go beyond social media. It must reflect in real numbers and real participation. Every supporter should take responsibility for expanding the membership base,” he said.

Okonkwo assured that individuals and groups leading registration drives would receive the necessary support and expressed confidence that the initiative would result in a marked increase in ADC membership across the South-East in the coming weeks.

He concluded by emphasizing that deliberate participation and coordinated action remain critical to achieving measurable political outcomes.
