A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Lagos State, Olalekan Abdulmojeed Anjolaiya, has formally entered the race for the party’s ticket to represent Alimosho Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, saying Alimosho deserved better representation.

Anjolaiya declared his intention to vie for the House of Representatives on the platform of the ADC at a ceremony in Egbeda, Lagos, at the weekend, where he claimed that “Alimosho had suffered from years of ineffective representation.”

The businessman who is popularly known as Aerosoft said “the constituency has suffered from years of ineffective representation, leaving Alimosho under-positioned and underrepresented, despite its strategic importance.”

Addressing newsmen, Anjolaiya regretted that Alimosho Federal Constituency was also suffering from what he described as “structural injustice,” saying “despite its size and population, we are allocated only one federal constituency, unlike areas such as Mushin and Surulere which have two each.”

According to him, this imbalance had significantly limited Alimosho’s representation and voice at the national level.

He described Alimosho as “a melting pot of cultures, welcoming Nigerians from all tribes, ethnicities, and religions,” and added that “beyond being a residential hub, it is also a vibrant economic centre, driven by thriving commercial activities across markets such as Katangowa, Olugbede, and Ile-Epo.”

Economic analysts, Anjolaiya added, “estimate that Alimosho’s local economy is valued at over N30 billion, fuelled by daily commercial transactions, small businesses, and an active informal sector that sustains millions of livelihoods.

“Notably, Alimosho consistently receives the highest federal allocation among all LGAs in Nigeria, with ₦15.75 billion recorded between January and June 2025 alone.” However, he regretted that “its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) stands at approximately ₦310 million, highlighting a vast untapped economic potential.”

Anjolaiya said: “Despite these impressive indicators, the reality for many residents remains deeply concerning. Our healthcare system is under severe pressure. Facilities like the Alimosho General Hospital, Igando, are overstretched, with patient-to-doctor ratios far beyond acceptable standards. Our education sector faces a crisis, with an estimated 900,000 out-of-school children, and an insufficient number of public schools to cater to our rapidly growing population.”

He said he was out to correct the alleged imbalance and promised “people-centred representation; welfarism and social protection; economic empowerment and strategic positioning of Alimosho for mega development.”

He presented the “Alimosho Together Agenda” on the occasion, saying it was “a movement rooted in unity, progress, and collective responsibility.”

Anjolaiya also visited the Alimosho Local Government secretariat of the ADC where he was received by the party’s chairman in the local government, Pastor Wesley Odeyemi and members of the party’s executive committee.

He formally presented a letter of his intention to contest for the House of Representatives to the party and promised that he would play by the rules and uphold the tenets of the party.

Pastor Odeyemi praised Anjolaiya for his courage and tenacity, advised him not to cower and to also carry all the 11 wards in the local government along in his ambition.
