BOMADI — The lawmaker representing Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Nicholas Ebomo Mutu, has trained youths in his constituency in basic computer literacy to equip them with essential digital skills.

The training and empowerment programme, facilitated by Mutu, was organised by the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) in collaboration with Veekites Payday Limited. It was held on Thursday at the Bomadi Town Hall in Delta State.

Participants received training in Microsoft software applications, data analysis and processing, graphic and logo design, internet navigation, artificial intelligence, customer service, online business opportunities and other computer applications.

During the practical sessions, resource persons demonstrated how participants could take advantage of digital platforms and online business opportunities to improve their livelihoods.

Deputy Director of the Fisheries Department at ARCN, Mrs. Bolanle Fafowora, said the training was aimed at improving the digital skills of youths and women in the constituency.

She commended Mutu for facilitating the initiative, urging beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity to improve their lives.

“This training is designed to enhance the capabilities of women and youths in Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency. I urge the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity to better their lives,” she said.

Also speaking, the lawmaker’s liaison officer in Bomadi, Hon. Kenneth Ebitonmo, expressed satisfaction with the various empowerment and capacity-building initiatives facilitated by the legislator for the constituency over the years.

The resource persons, Mr. Ayo Balogun and Mr. Nwanto, urged participants to make productive use of the knowledge acquired and the materials provided.

They also cautioned them against engaging in internet fraud, popularly known as “yahoo-yahoo,” encouraging them instead to focus on legitimate digital opportunities.

Two beneficiaries, Mr. Ebakor Ellis from Patani Local Government Area and Ms. Emienbor Elizabeth from Bomadi Local Government Area, who spoke on behalf of participants, commended Mutu and ARCN for the initiative and pledged to apply the knowledge gained.
