ABG distributes 10,000 Food bags in Kaduna, seeks support for PDP

A former member of the House of Representatives and Kaduna State governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Shehu Bawa (ABG), has distributed over 10,000 bags of rice and assorted grains to vulnerable residents across Kaduna State in the spirit of Ramadan and Lent.

The distribution, which took place in Kaduna, targeted widows, the elderly, persons with disabilities, and low-income earners grappling with rising living costs and economic hardship.

Speaking during the exercise, Bawa said the gesture was aimed at cushioning the effects of hardship on families during a period marked by fasting, prayer, and reflection for both Muslims and Christians.

He noted that prevailing economic realities have placed immense pressure on households, making it increasingly difficult for many to afford basic food items.

“Leaders must demonstrate empathy and practical commitment to the welfare of the people. This intervention is part of my longstanding culture of supporting the less privileged, even when I am not holding any public office,” he said.

Bawa dismissed suggestions that the initiative was politically motivated, insisting that reaching out to vulnerable groups has always been part of his personal values.

“It is part of me to always reach out and put smiles on the faces of the people,” he added.

The PDP aspirant maintained that compassion and social responsibility remain core principles of the party, stressing that it is committed to policies that prioritise citizens’ welfare and economic prosperity.

He urged residents to reflect on the current state of affairs and make informed decisions in the forthcoming elections, describing the PDP as a credible alternative capable of addressing the challenges confronting the state.

Bawa also appealed to the electorate to mobilise at the grassroots to ensure active participation in the electoral process, emphasising that sustainable development can only be achieved through collective effort and responsible leadership.

Some beneficiaries who spoke at the event described the intervention as timely, noting that the food items would significantly ease the burden on their families during the fasting season.

Political observers say such humanitarian gestures could influence public discourse as activities ahead of the governorship race gradually gather momentum in Kaduna State.
