Matels Eyengho says she’s not retiring from acting, but prioritizing her kids. The talented actress took a break to nurture her children, not because marriage took over her career as widely speculated. She’s been focusing on stage plays at the moment, and wants to produce films for YouTube.

With her kids growing up, Matel is ready to make a big comeback to acting this year.

“I don’t like leaving my kids with others for movie shoots,” she says. Now that they’re older, she’s open to taking on more projects outside Lagos.

“Marriage hasn’t taken over my career. I’m still acting and doing what I know how to do best. But raising my kids has been my priority. That’s why you haven’t been seeing my face on screen in recent times”, she added.

Matel got married to her filmmaker husband-cum-politician, Alex Eyengho in 1999, and their marriage is blessed with two boys.
