Coalition calls for transparency, due process in Pinnacle Communications case

The Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Transparency and Accountability has called on relevant authorities to ensure due process and institutional oversight in an ongoing corporate and legal dispute involving Pinnacle Communications Limited.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, the Coalition’s representatives said their concern centres on the need for clarity, transparency and adherence to lawful procedures in matters relating to corporate governance and estate administration connected to the company.

The group explained that Pinnacle Communications Limited was established by the late Sir Lucky Babatunde Omoluwa and was duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). Following the passing of some founding officers, steps were taken by recognised personal representatives of the estate to regularise the company’s board structure in line with applicable laws and court-directed processes.

According to the Coalition, various legal proceedings have since arisen in relation to corporate representation, management authority and administrative decisions concerning the company. It noted that some of these matters are currently before competent courts in Nigeria and other jurisdictions.

The Coalition emphasised that it is not taking a position on the merits of any pending case, nor attributing responsibility or fault to any party. Rather, it said its intervention is motivated by public interest considerations, particularly the importance of orderly corporate governance, investor confidence and respect for judicial processes.

It urged all parties involved to allow the courts and relevant regulatory institutions to determine the issues before them without external pressure or public speculation.

The group also called on oversight bodies, including relevant professional and regulatory institutions, to continue to carry out their statutory responsibilities in accordance with established procedures where petitions or complaints are lawfully before them.

In addition, the Coalition appealed to the media to report on the matter with restraint and balance, noting that ongoing legal disputes require careful handling to avoid misinformation or undue influence on judicial proceedings.

The Coalition reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and the rule of law, stating that corporate and estate-related disputes are best resolved through lawful institutional mechanisms and judicial determination.
